To enable a prestigious organization like this to achieve its mission and goals, a clear hierarchy of organizational structure was designed to ensure that each and every personnel has specific duties and responsibilities that contribute towards its achievement. Accordingly the field of organizational behavior assists criminal justice agencies in the implementation of strategies to facilitate the accomplishment of organizational objectives. In this regard, the objective of the essay is to proffer an understanding of organizational behavior in a criminal justice agency. The important elements of organizational behavior would be described including how these can challenge the effectiveness of an agency. Schermerhorn, Hunt, & Osborn (2008, 5) define organizational behavior (OB) as â€Å"the study of human behavior in organizations. It is an academic discipline devoted to understanding individual and group behavior, interpersonal processes, and organizational dynamics with the goal of improving the performance of organizations and the people in them†. Thereby, the important elements to be considered in an organization, including that of a criminal justice agency, are the organization’s purpose, mission, and strategy; organizational environment and stakeholders; organizational culture; workforce diversity; and leadership, among others.
